Nope - you just sign a declaration that it was not received - relys on honesty.
The claim form though must be accompanied by the proof of postage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have been selling my clutter on eBay on and off for quite a while now and I am finding that, since the change in policy stopping sellers from posting negative feedback, I am receiving a far higher percentage of non-delivery refund requests via paypal. Where an item is high value, I send via courier anyway to avoid these type of issues.
However, I am considering using recorded delivery but as many of my items sell for less than £5 this is going to further add to the postage costs and put people off bidding but I am a bit sick of the sudden leap in claims.
What do others do?
Thanks in advance
Always send via Recorded include this in the cost & give them a choice of 1st or 2nd class, don't give them a choice of none recorded or they will always opt for the cheapest.
In the event of a none received item eBay will ask you to provide a tracking number or will award a claim in favour of the buyer, regardless of you having proof of posting!
Proof of posting only allows you to put a claim in against the Royal Mail.
Once sent, there is a option to add the tracking number in PayPal, you can also check the RM site to see when the item has been received!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Ahh! I see, will stick to my safe bet, recorded all the way. I have enough to deal with in regards to roughly 50% going out to pay ebay/paypal fees  without this additonal worry! Thankyou for the clarification!0 -
If you think it is safer, then so be it. I still think it is way to expensive for something with no guarantee to win a chargeback anyway.
Still my cunning plan of wiping out the competitors might succeed yet.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
