Rough guide prices on getting to Paris

Hi
Am looking at going to Paris, probably next spring and I'm just getting rough estimates on travel. Hotels and tours etc. will remain pretty static I imagine so we're trying to see which is the actual cheapest way of getting there against time spent travelling. Unfrotunately, my partner doesn't fly so that is out of the question which leaves rail and coach I guess.
Leaving from Liverpool, the two comparisons I've ran off seem to indicate that:
coach will be between £120-£165 and journey will last between 16 and 24 hours (from eurolines/national express);
train will be between £230-£270 and journey will last between 4 and 6 hours.
Now I haven't done this before but they seem a little pricey - is this what I'm looking at realistically with a pre booked return? Are there any cheaper ways?
Thanks

Look at inclusive Eurostar packages. It sometimes works out that hotels plus train are cheaper than just rail tickets. This often works for Brussels and worth trying for Paris.
eg packages London to Paris inc 2 nights hotel currently quoted from £119 pp
