Hi aimex - what sort of room booking rate was it? Flexible rates allow a full refund, but saver rooms aren't refundable (even the extras, if booked).
If it's a saver room there's no advantage to you in letting them know you won't be able to make it - if you do they'll simply sell the room to someone else and double their takings with no benefit to you.
Personally I wouldn't cancel on the basis it's an 0871 number costing 10p per minute but also in case there's a slight possibility of being able to use the room.0 -
If its a saver room, it may be worth trying to sell it on ebay, but you dont have to let them know.0

thank you for the response. it is a saver room but was worrie di may get charged extra or something. i see there is an online facility to cancel in any event but like you say i may leave it in case i can use it after all.
thanks again0 -
No there is no charge for not showing up. Id go for the advice earlier and sell i on ebay.0

hi
i booked a room the other week at 29 but the next day it was 19 so i tried to cancel but you cant cancel a saver rate so i had to write it off to bad luck lol
you can however cancel a full rate room. if you go through the cancel a room facility it will tell you if you will lose your money or not before you confirm.

Is there anything wrong with this really? If you're not using it, it certainly doesn't harm you if they re-sell your room, after all, means they make a bit of extra money, can afford to keep offering good promotions in the future, and it's benefitting everyone on here to have a successful and profitable Travelodge! And also someone else will probably benefit from a room becoming available, maybe they will have no-where else to stay? I always find this attitude a bit strange!
But even though I've said that, I would be far too lazy to actually cancel the room if it took more than a minute to do, the hypocrit that I am

Be careful with ebay.
I've heard of a couple of cases where this has gone wrong.
One was where a man turned up with his children but the room was booked in a different name. Suspicious staff called the police. It was only a guy with his own kids.
The other case was where the guy was prevented from using the room.
He got really nasty with the seller.
99% of the time it works fine.0 -
I've bought rooms off ebay and never had a problem. All they need is a booking Ref number.Don't think they care who has the room.Be careful with ebay.

It works fine if you send the buyer an email transferring the room from you to them.0 -
I did this recently and phoned the hotel as well to confirm it was Ok and they said all they need is the confirmation number and name it was booked in.0
