Interesting.
It was my opinion that credit card lending had pretty much ceased. Im in the fortunate position of having a significant amount in savings and wanted to get a new CC ( having cancelled all my old ones- as has OH when they were paid off & DF) Now we would like one for those expensive purchases ( holidays mainly) and car hire abroad ( eg the US). However, my own bank who states that I can have a 15k loan if I want, wont give me a CC. With my near perfect CR, I didnt want to risk the rejection on my CR.
Are they ( banks in general) still giving CCs out then? MAybe they are just giving them out to those whios risk profuiles they already know? I know my bank ( co-op ) told me that they are not giving out CCs in the main at all atm but wonder if others are...?!?!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Co-op is not a typical bank, you should find a credit card quite easy to get afaik. They are trimming back high risk card limits and customers, I think co op is more cautious then most0

They're invoking Keynesian philosophy and spending their way out of debt*.
*no link yet.Happy chappy0 -
I guess then that once all these credit cards are maxed out and people fine themselves in even more sh*t then we'll see even more houses up for repo!!!
guess those house prices won't be rising for awhile now.If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

i thought if you only had saving and no debt your credit rating would be poor?

It's an illusion, the credit card providers are going down along with everyone else...

I think it is great that we are not getting all that sh1te posted through our doors, might even help to cut global warming with less trees being cut down.0

The CC companies have now clocked that they can sieze peeps houses when they miss payments. It's a quirk in the law to turn CC debt into a secured loan.
Expect loads more repos as a consequence.0 -

I thought they could only get a charge against the house, they can't actually reposess.0 -
