Try a different key from one of your other windows, or contact supplier for another one, try squirting a bit of wd40 in there to loosen up the mechanism. If that fails you may need to hacksaw off the handle, unscrew and fit a new handle, screwfix do them quite cheaply
  • thanks ill give it a go
  • i had a similar problem in my bathroom.

drastic solution i used was to drill through the lock and release it like that. Same handle is still in place but it's no longer lockable.

My double glazing window in the kitchen will not open - the handle moves up and down fine but it's as if the mechanisim has gone - any ideas about how I can get it open?? the window is high up so I can't access it from the outside...

same advice as for the OP, unscrew the handle, (if it lifts up you should see a second screw) and get a replacement if needed, it might just be the mechanism and you could fix that...
