The £100K wedding

  • I think that marrying early seems to be part of their tradition, as stated by other posters her mum married her dad at 16 and is still married to him - how many of us can say that?
They do seem to go over the top, I've heard of other traveller brides who can barely stand in their dresses, have had to take petticoats off to get through the church door etc.! Whilst she obviously loved her dress, I'm amazed that she was allowed to wear something like that to a Catholic (in fact any church) wedding!
Each to their own, if they stay married as long as her parents have then they'll put many other older couples to shame!

You guys seem to think this was genuine. SURELY it was a wind up??? People can't seriously do that?

And really NO Catholic church would let a woman dress like that? I was chased out of one on holiday in Ibiza because I forgot I was wearing shorts and not trousers.

That's almost made me want to buy the magazine for the laugh!

thats probably mild compared to some traveller weddings, but i really dont like that she thought it was ok to marry in a catholic church wearing that!!!!

The priest must of thought it was ok, anyway what priests allow changes all the time and is different between parishes - we even have married catholic priests nower days.

If you've seen the BBC3 programme 'Don't tell the Bride' then you'll see that some priests have agreed to a church weddings against there normal views after a bit of uming and aring.

The church population is reducing all the time, they need to do all they can attract people back to the church

As to this wedding I think the couple better start saving for their kids wedding in 16yrs time ;)

  • I have to say to you all - well done!:T
i have read a few threads on this subject in other forums and the debate is , shall I say, not as good natured as you all are!:A

I believe that it is in the travellers culture to marry young and 'splash out' on their weddings, I've seen pictures of other traveller brides in 'excessive' dresses though, in truth, the excess was more rather than less;)

I was more amazed at Mum I have to say, at first glance I could've sworn she'd forgotten to put her top on:eek:
I was a bit concerned at the outfits the younger children were wearing, not entirely appropriate for their age and the occassion I thought.

Mind you, when you think about it, her mum married her dad when she was 16 and they are still together - how many other people can say that?
Let's hope that this young bride and her new husband are just as successful.
  • I feel I can worry less about what I'll look like now - at least I will have a complete dress, LOL. :rotfl:
