I need to buy a new LCD tv and I am going to need a 26" one. There seem to be a few sony bravia kdl ones (series 3000 or 4000). I am a bit confused by the choice and was wandering if somebody could give me some advice on this. It seems to be difficult to find a review for smaller tvs on the internet. Do you know if these are good televisions and if the quality of the picture is good?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Sony models are denoted by a letter after the screen size. For example a KDL32D3000 is a 'D' series set. If you can't find a review for the particular set you're after then look for a review on a larger set in the same model range. For example, if you're looking for a KDL20S2500 but can't find a review then have a look for a KDL32S2500. The 4 digits after the S are not as important, the major model number is 20S, 32S, 40V etc etc.0

I have a KDL 32S3000 and it's a fantastic TV for the money. You can now get the V3000 for £369 (32"), so the 26" should be a bit less.
I would avoid the U and P series (i.e. 26u3000) as they are the bottom of the range ones. Look at the S, V, W and D series screens.0 -
I agree. The U series is the 'stack-em-high sell-em-cheap' series. They are a little cheaper but you'd regret not getting at least an S series.
I have a 20S2030, a 32D3000 and a 40V4000 and they're all excellent. My folks have a 32S2030 and my Brother-In-Law has a 32S3000 and they all love them. I will admit though that our devotion to Sony had a lot to do with my staff sale discount.0 -
I just bought a Sony KDL-26T3000 last week via Amazon and I think it's absolutely terrific.
I was originally going to buy a 32" set but after reading an article on correct screen sizes for viewing distances realised that 26" was best for my small living room.
I am pleased I opted for the smaller set as it allowed me to buy a higher quality 26" set such as the Sony. I agree with you about the lack of reviews for smaller sets but via Google found one (I think in What HiFi ??) which said the best two 26" sets were this Sony and a Panasonic (which was a lot more expensive)
Viewing straight on the picture quality is truly excellent and the sound is also great. The tv was very easy to set up.
My only minor niggle is that when viewing from an angle the picture looks "washed-out" but I think this is probably normal.
Hope this helps !!0 -
I think it is fairly normal to have poor viewing angles with LCD.
Try Revvoo for reviews. There are hundreds of unbiased actual consumer reviews from people who have purchased the televisions. Admittedly you will get people giving stuff all the praise in the world, just because they bought that particulr one, but you do get to see the strong and weak points of various models.0 -
avforums.com is great for telly advice0

I wouldn't buy a TV unless I had consulted AVForums. Well I don;t buy anything before checking on their first! Been a member for quite some time and got so much excellent advice.
Just be careful of the war going on between the LCD fanboys and the Plasma fanboys!0 -

I agree with having a look on AVforums..

I also agree with aliEnRIK...I bought the 26V4000 around 6 weeks ago and it's really very good. It was between this and the 26T3000 but the newer v version was more readily available and was on offer with free 5 yr warranty so it was a no brainer.Herman - MP for all!0
