I phoned Tax Credits on 1st or 2nd September, and the first payment(s) went into my bank on Monday of this week....

But they did have a couple of issues due to company name against tax reference number (due to a merger/take over) and absence of CB number (was waiting for that to come through)

But they didn't contact me to ask -- it was only me phoning on Monday of last week got it moving as I could resolve the tax reference number for them !!!


This was for a 'new' claim, as we've had a break in entitlement.......

Local Housing Allowance- depends how long the Local Authority backlog is. Where I live it is about 5 weeks at the moment (assuming all evidence is provided and no questions arise from the evidence that is provided). For Income Support I have recently known people to be waiting 6 weeks plus but then the other day a person I spoke to got theirs assessed within a week.

It will vary from area to area and will depend on how straightforward your claim is. Your Local Authority should tell you what the backlog is on LHA claims.

Some of the claims for benefits (such as IS and possibly LHA, 'cos our ISMI was) also get priority. We had an answer on an IS claim within days last December -- but I was told it was rushed through 'cos my hubby has cancer and is in receipt of high rate DLA (both components). If they have a lot of these priority cases then I guess the others suffer, and I really feel for people with very young children who can't see how they're going to pay for the next meal when theirs are delayed as a result

Hmmmm....whoops!
I missed a 'interview' with an officer for incomme support, which I was not expecting, whilst away from home, for some reason. I have just found out checking my online banking that all monies from IS stopped and this has had the knock on effect of stopping housing, c tax, child tax credit etc so no monies have been paid and so it looks like i'll have to start again. Thankfully I had a bit of savings which covered me whilst I was not aware of the situation, but my rent is due soon(as well as other stuff!) and that is is bad if it is going to take that long to set up again!

Will it be any quicker if they already have my details? grrrr!

Benefits is supposed to be up to six weeks from the first phone call...

But I've come realise they make their own time-scale up, and their own rules :mad:

I might be but i had the same thing, and i had reclaimed on the 26th sep and still waiting!!!

I'm waiting for IS and TC until these come through my HB and CT have to wait as i have no evidence!!
