Bottled water for dogs!

I was in Wilcos today and noticed they had bottled water especially for dogs! Does anyone really but it? I suppose they must or they wouldn't sell it.

I saw it in pets at home aa few weeks back - I phoned my mum in disbelief....!!!

I really dont get why people would buy it - especially at £1.99 a bottle - you can get evian for way less than that !! It is supposed to have all kinds of good things in it I think, so I guess if you were planning a really tiring day for your dog so the y might need extras you might buy, but I really couldnt believe my eyes.....

looks like another commercial pandering to our whims with our pets...

mind you the only people i see buying it would be the ones that carry their dogs around in a handbag
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

    Probably! ^
If you're planning a tiring day for your dog, give them a dessert spoon of glucose in their water - it hydrates them better (good for if they've been ill too). £1.99 a bottle? Pfft.

  • If you think about people who travel with their dogs a lot ( I compete with mine ) and those who go on long hikes, its not a bad idea. Glucose is a good idea, but thats another thing you have to try and fit into your bum bag

Also alot of dogs refuse to drink plain water after they have been working/training, whereas they will drink things like this. Essential to prevent dehydration

My dog drinks so much out of rivers (when swimming) and muddy puddles (I don't encourage him but its useless to try and stop him) it would be crazy to start buying bottled water for him

When my dog was alive, and we went on a car journey, I always took along a bottle of water for him, but it was an old clean plastic bottle filled up with tap water!

(sorry but what a waste of money, )

Also what did dogs working or otherwise do in ye days of olde??, the neaerst puddle or river / stream / water bowl did the job.

Any dog or cat I've had has preferred to drink water from a bird bath, puddle or pond rather than the fresh tap water I provide.
  • I always give my kitten and puppy pre-boiled water. The pup will drink from the drain cover outside, or my parents pond, or a puddle. I assume these bottles don't have the chlorine in which cats and dogs dislike in freshly 'poured from the tap' water.

Incidentally, does anyone know the best place to get those flip down water bowls which connect to a bottle for being on the move?

Some white or pale coated dogs don't get those brown patches on their lips if given only bottled water to drink, but Tesco's best will normally do......

Mine too, my dog even looks in the hollows of very large trees to see if any water's collected. I'm always amazed at how resourceful they are. I do carry water for him when we're out (tap water in a small bottle) but he does prefer the 'natural' stuff. Our cats love the puddles and the water feature.;)
