Booking holiday direct with hotel

Not sure if this is the correct place to post my question but here goes.

I have been looking for a cheap getaway in January and have found where I want to stay and am thinking of booking direct with the hotel. The price they have quoted me is in euro's so i am wondering if I pay for it on my credit card will I incur any extra charges with my bank and how will it be converted into pounds.

The cost is 961.50 euro's which works out at £788.11 at the current exchange rate of 1.22. Am wanting to know if this is what I will be charged.

Have you checked around accom booking websites to see if you can get price any cheaper as booking direct is not always the cheapest option.

Depends which bank and which card, but most will charge you extra (usually 2.75%)

However that extra charge compares well with the charges for other methods of exchange (typically 5 to 6% though you can do better)
  • My card would be Nat West Mastercard. It is asking for full amount but that is probably because we would be going at the begining of January.

I have tried various places trying to find the best deal and booking direct seems to be the best deal. Our holiday is for 4 of us for half board at Cordial Mogan Valle Apartments in Gran Canaria. Booking with Cardinal online gives me 7 nights for the price of 6 and and it didnt charge for my youngest child, the elder was classed as an adult.

Flights are £544 with First Choice.

Try Thomson hotel section as they usually have some decent prices.

This link from martins notes in the transport/travel section shows you what nw would charge. If you compare it to the Nationwide ,just above, you can see the variations.nationwide is touted to be one of the best because it doesnt charge you each time you spend.Booking with the hotel direct isn't always cheapest, sometimes it can be cheaper to go through someone else .

what date are you wanting to go
  • Saint_Chris, the dates I am looking at are 12/1-19/1.

I have priced the holiday with sunshine.co.uk wich is coming up cheaper but I am waiting for them to get back to me as they are quoting for a 1 bedroom apt but cordial have quoted for 2 bedroom apt. Anyone had any dealings with this company?
