Hi all
I've been sent a couple of documents with an extension of .XPS
Anyone any idea what this is as Google wasn't very helpful, and what I can use to open the file?
I know who it is from but can't get the files in any other format.

You can open XPS files Microsoft's XPS Viewer. It comes with Windows Vista or it's included with the XPS Essentials Pack:

If you download it from there you can use it with Windows XP.
I hope that helps.... sometimes with techy answers it's hard to know where to pitch it.0 -
Thanks folks - I appear to have an XPS viewer installed as it gives me the option if I select "Open with", but all it does is open a blank tab in Firefox and asks me what I want to do with the file.
Just tried downloading the installer file from with MS website but it won't install regardless of which option I choose. I've downloaded the third one down as I have XP Home with SP3 installed.

OK - managed to be able to view the .XPS file in IE but now I have a Windows Installer box on screen and a process called csrss.exe running at nearly 100% and I can't end it.
I can't decide from looking at Google results if it is malicious or not, but it's on high priority and looks like it's going to be running for a while.

OK - csrss.exe has now finished, but I still get the XPS viewer to work.
In Firefox it just opens a new tab and ask me if I want to view of save the file.
I can use the "Open With" option to open in IE7.
I thought this would be some sort of stand-alone package like PDF viewers but it looks like I'm wrong. Can't get the XPS viewer from MS to install using the link posted by PasturesNew.
I've downloaded the third one down as I have XP Home but it always comes up with an error saying there's a problem with the installation package and to contact the vendor.
