Monitor Problem - Black Screen

My Viewsonic monitor has started to intermittently turn black for a few seconds each time - this is annoying.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
Do I need a new monitor?

Thanks.

Simplest question first: Have you checked to see if the VGA connector isn't loose at either end?

Are you using a CRT or TFT monitor?

Good advice and I suggest the screws for holding the plug in are screwed in tightly.
  • If the above is all ok, remove the side panel & check to see if the graphics card has come away from the mother board with the power turned off completely.
You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.
