Is a written quote legally binding?

We received a quote from our factor for building work. There is 4 flats in our building and they are all owned. On the quote there is a total price, then a breakdown for our 1/4 share, but when you add up the 4 quarters it doesn't add up to the total amount it only adds up to half of the total.

    The simple answer is no!

A 'supplier' is under no obligation to provide you with anything. Mistakes happen.

In terms of contract law, the supplier has not offered, you have not accepted and there is no consideration. It is legally an 'invitation to treat' (Fisher v Bell).

The supplier can withraw from a contract at any stage (Grant v Routledge)

I'm not sure that is the question that was asked. It sounds as though the work has already been done. OP - can you elaborate?

    2boymum,

I would ring up the people who sent the quote, and ask them if it is correct, and point out what you think is wrong with it.

And THEN work out if you want to accept it or not.
