Loa

Does anyone know where I can find up to date LOA rates? I assume that they are changing as exchange rates have changed significantly recently. Despite googling I can'd find them anywhere.

• MOD Defence Intranet would be a good start.
• I wouldn't be too suprised if the rates haven't changed. They normally only change them at specific times not in response to anything. I tried looking for them on the MOD intranet a few weeks ago but I couldn't find. I did have a link to them, but guess what, I deleted it.

The rates of LOA are regularly updated and may change for one of the following reasons:

a. An adjustment of the basic standards following a formal LOA Review.

b. A change in the comparative prices at home and overseas notified at the time of a LOA Update.

c. A change in the Forces Fixed Rate of Exchange (FFR) at the overseas station. The FFR is altered to reflect changes in the relative value of the local currency and Sterling as required.
What area are you trying to find details about?

I believe it is normally the local UAO, to that theatre that has them as they change. Which area did you want the rates for? as I am in Cyprus if that helps.

• Hi tighttrooper, the most current LOA rates are found on the JPA site. You can access this by going onto the MOD intranet and selecting the JPA link found in the bottom right hand corner. There you will find the most current rates in the JPA BAG. Alternatively, you can contact your Pay Office and ask that this is checked for you.

• Sorry not to get back sooner - I've been away. I'm off to Germany next year. With the current fluctuations on exchange rate I imagine that the FFR is trying to keep up - and changing the LOA rates.

I flew back from Germany the other day after being at Hohne for a few days and I have to say I was shocked at the prices in the NAAFI now because of the exchange rate........normally I can't wait to get over to take advantage of the cheaper prices, but this time I just kept saying I'll wait till I get back as its cheaper in the UK (though obviously the rationed stuff remains cheaper)
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

the prices in the NAAFI are shocking,
there are items clearly marked as £1 and he exchange rate is something like 1.22 and they are charging 1.60 ish for them how can they justify this.
I also believe that Tesco have withdrawn from the NAAFI as they came to BFG and had a look around and were disgusted at the price they were charging us and they withdrew the contract which is why you can see less and less tesco tings in te NAAFI.
