Video Ideas For An 84 Year Old Please??

Am racking my brains for tv series or films that my 84yr old MIL would like. I think older stuff would be better (telly/movies were better in the old days is a constant cry :snow_laug ). BUT it has to be something affordable as it's being bought by my student daughter.
The list so far:-
Old Coronation Street
Up Stairs Down Stairs
Sam
When the Boat comes in
Ain't half hot mum
Grace brothers

Must be available on video as she has no dvd - and doesn't want one!! :rudolf:

Also do you think there is still time to get them if we buy on line?

Cheers

Anything by Catherine Cookson or Barbara Taylor Bradford. Plus The Onedin Line?

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

  • I bought the film Calendar Girls for my Mum and she loved it. My MIL loves Forrest Gump and Chicago.

you might be able to get some videos with old footage of the area she lives in. they're usually available in local bookshops & the like. I've given a few to elderly relatives & they've always been appreciated. they love seeing events they remember, & streets & places that have changed beyond recognition. it also gives them the opportunity to talk about things they can feel knowledgeable about :)

Dads army, All creatures great and small. I concur with Poldark and Onedin LIne, both great but you will need a box set to get more than a few episodes. Morecaambe and Wise esp the xmas specials.
District nurse, Liver Birds, Whatever happened to the Likely lads,
All these are gems from the seventies and were extremely popular
