Thanksgiving in California

We are going to stay with friends in Califonia for Thanksgiving. Should we take presents for everyone for the day? We will be taking small gifts to the people we are staying with any way. I know there is a large dinner with turkey etc. What is expected of guests in peoples home? If we were visiting over Christmas we would know what is expected. Can anyone advise many thanks:j

It is not customary at all to exchange presents in recognition of Thanksgiving.
As you suggest you may wish to bring a small gift in recognition of the difficult (and hopefully delicious) meal prepared by your hosts. (Just bring whatever you bring when you visit someone's home.)0 -
maybe take a selection of stuff they dont have there , good selection of sweets and choc bars , jaffa cakes , wagon wheels , some tins of sweets /fudge from the airport shop with buck palace etc on always seem to go down well0
