Earning related pay?

Can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as Earning Related Pay?
Or is it now refered to as something else?. I have never to have claimed benefits, although this is about to change as redundancy looms.

I've never heard of "earning related pay"

As someone else with looming redundancy (30 days and counting to being off payroll), the only thing is contributions based Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) if you've paid enough Class 1 National Insurance in certain tax years (think the last I was advised on here was they'd currently be looking at 2005-06 and 2006-07).

Without that it's income based JSA -- but once you get to that then any redundancy payment will count against you. As a couple we're only allowed £16k in capital before all income based benefits are with-held, and we'd get a reduced rate between £6k and £16k.

Be warned - you can't use your redundancy pay-off to clear any debts, as it will still be counted against you !!!

My husband only learned for sure that today was his last day. The receivers were brought in as the company was wound up. They owe him several weeks wages, they used the lets keep going as long as we can line, so he kept working with out pay in the hope that the company would pull through.
He has been told to wait for a phone call tomorow. Will he have to meet with the receivers? any idea what happens now?

the only thing I would imagine he would have to see the receivers for (assuming he's "just a lowly employee") would be to prove anything on site it HIS personal belongings -- otherwise they'll take everything on site.

(not been there myself, but a number of years back a friend was)

The benefit that's now referred to as JSA used to have an earnings related element to it, which I expect is what you mean. This isn't the case anymore and JSA is paid at a flat rate. He should ring the Jobcentre tomorrow and register his claim and make an appointment to see an advisor.
