IPOD TOUCH- advise for dummies!

Hi

Like the look of this, but do I upload my own cd`s and dvd`s on to it? or do I have to buy it all through itunes?

Also any idea how long the battery life is? Going on a long haul flight in the new year thanks.

    Both.

1 - Hook up Ipod via USB and iTunes should boot up. Register your iPod. Load a CD into your PC and click yes.

2 - Click on iStore or something like that and create a log. Buy stuff and they will appear in your "purchases" folder.

DVDs, with a bit of work, yes. Have a google round the net for the various programs that can help. https://www.doom9.net is great for video conversion, and videora is great for compressing video files for really good playback on iPods/iPhones.

You can get dvd's onto your ipod. You need a program to break the encryption, then one to shrink it and finally something to convert it. I use DVDFab, DVD Shrink and Handbrake. Be warned though, it takes a few hours to convert depending on the speed of your PC and length of film. Also, there are certain legalities about breaking DVD encryption, although my personal opinion is that if I've brought the original then I'm entitled to have it on my ipod. Im sure some will disagree though.
