Advice on how to open and which European bank account to open

Hi,

I was wondering if someone had any advice especially in our current financial climate for where I might be able to open a bank account that I can use through out europe? I'm off on a climbing tour of Europe for a couple of years and want a bank account I can access in Europe and if need be use for accepting payments for any work I get paid for out there.

I intend to keep the majority of my saving in my exisiting British account and only transfer money when needed and keep money I earn in their too.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
