I have a work proogramme on floppy discs (think thats what you call them) when I got this computer about 3 years ago I had a floppy disc thingie fitted by Dell so I could install it.
I`m now wondering, if anything happens to this computer is it possible to get these discs put onto a CD or something so I will be able to load it again, I use it a lot, its ages old!! but can`t be without it.
All advice much appreicated. Thanks

Yup,
Put each disk in in turn, and copy the entire contents from the floppy drive (a:\) to your PC, ie to
c:\workprogram\disk1
c:\workprogram\disk2
c:\workprogram\disk3
etc.
Then copy these to a CD.0 -
Thanks for the reply, sounds easy!!! in theory.
If I put in the floppy disc will it not interfere with the programme that is already installed or is there a bit that comes up that says I can copy it to the PC ... sorry I`m old`ish, they had manual typewriters when I was at school.....and don`t know much about computers etc apart from pressing the buttons and hoping they are working. All this technical stuff is way over my head... Is it similar to copying a music CD onto a blank one? I can manage that.
Thanks, I appreciate your time and trouble to help me out.0 -

Not unless you were loading it and even then I'm guessing this is such an old program that it doesn't even need installing so simply loading it won't do anything to interfere with it already being on your system. As jaydeeuk1 said, just copy and paste the files off the floppy disks somewhere and copy them to CD/DVD etc or wherever just like you would anything else."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
