  • you could also try Zyklene - another natural de-stressing/calming product - made of lactium (milk extract)

Cats are lactose intolerant. It makes them sick.

yesterday I had to take my 10 year old cat to the vet for his annual boosters, and for the first time ever I sprayed Feliway in the carrier before I put him in it

and for the first time ever he went and came back, by bus, without pooping

it might be a coincidence, but I shall most certainly be using Feliway for every carrier trip in future

When will you be letting her out, rather than keeping her trapped in a room on her own? I never isolated my cats, as they need to be social and/or sort out living with the others.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

    Thanks for your comments

If you are medicating one cat & you have another the wet food option doesn't really work (they have wet food as a treat & despite having a bowl each will rush forwards when that is served instead of dry). As I said I will use the other stuff until it runs out. Also will try Remedy Rescue.

Lastly I don't want to give any kind of `treatments' for long periods - only on one-off ocassions so I don't think it's suitable for me & my 2 furbabies.

I have 2 cats, who both see wet food as a treat and will leap on it and eat each others. One of my cats occasionally needs medication in his food.

Simple answer? I shut the cat needing meds in the kitchen on his own with me, whilst I give him a very small amount of highly palatable wet food with the meds mixed in... He gobbles it down - Other cat doesn't get involved.

Takes less than 5 minutes - simples :D

Good job it is Lactium not Lactose then! :rotfl:

It is specifically veterinary developed for cats and dogs.

It can be used on the day off stress- ideally 2 days before - not 2 weeks like a previous message implied- Feliway takes 2 weeks to build up a level in the house.

The capsulse are tasteless (not that I have eaten them) and can be sprinkled onto the cats food- :Awet or dry.

Sorry to disagree with a fellow VN :o, but from experience I have found zylkene to be most beneficial if given a week or two in advance, for example of fireworks. I agree though, that the manufacturers advice is a day or two beforehand.

The capsules are filled with a powder derived from milk - not sure what sort, or in fact if it is natural or chemically produced, but my pooch begs for her zylkene capsules, and wolfs them down like a treat!

I saw this competition on the underground in London it's to win a years supply of feliway and a luxury pamper hamper.... not that I'm interested in that though. But a years supply of feliway, I'm interested.

All you have to do to enter is make a suggestion as to what your cats doing at home when you are out.

It's on the Secret to Happy Pets (.com) website, as a newbie I can't post links.

    It's worth a try.
