Really Really Scared as missed two payements on Mortgage

I am really really scared. I have missed the last two mortgage payments and dont think I am going to be able to cover this months, though I am determined to try and find the cash some how.
My Partner left me 6 months ago and due to my wages not covering my basic living costs things have been sprilling out of control. I missed some payments a year ago, and have been really good up until now.
Does anyone have any advice on writting to the Mortgage company as I want to set up a payment plan so I can catch up, as next month I have a good bonus pay at work and that will enable me to get all my other bills back on track so that I can catch up, and will allow me to be able to make my mortgage payments monthly. I am trying to get second job, and selling all I can to raise the money to pay back the missing payments.
Any advise would be great, as I am so scared of losing my home, and have no where to go if I do.

I think the firs thing you need to do is make contact with your lender, I would ring them and explain the situation, and then put this in writing. Explain about the bonus and that you should be able to 'catch up' - most lenders will do what they can to help you - maybe move mortgage onto Interest only for short term, until you get back onto your feet...0

I agree with unite79, please contact the lender and explain the situation.
Also I could add that ,if you feel the need, the folks on the Debt-Free wanabee board are VERY good. They might be able to help you too.Space available for rent0 -
If you are strugling then a visit to the debt board is best, do a SOA and begin to build up a long term plan to resolve the issues.
Mortgage and councel tax are the two most important bills to pay.0 -
Hi
My friend had his house repossessed earlier this year but he hadn't paid his mortgage for 10 months and had missed payments on and off for a total of two years. Even when the house was finally repossessed the lender was reluctant to do it but my friend was so deep in debt he wanted to be made bankrupt.
I agree with everyone else, talk to your lender. Pick up the phone and explain.
Good luck

Is this a joint mortgage? If so, remind your ex-partner that he/she is also laible for the mortgage payments.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Ring the lender, most lenders will try their best to get you back on track and will come to an arrangement with you. It costs them a fortune to repossess your house, depending on your equity they can have quite a fair bit of leeway.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

You can always go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau who will work out a budget for you before ringing your lender. They will also check if you are able to get any help in the form of benefits. Good luck.0

Some good advice above that I endorse.
What I would add is DON'T WRITE! They'll lose the letter!! - these firms are rarely good at dealing with post!
Ring them, get them to ring you straight back (at their expense) and discuss what options you have. Don't commit to anything you cannot afford.0 -
Thats why I would advise you to go to the CAB,they will work out the payments and budget for you and then put it forward for you. They will have more clout and know how to word and handle lenders.0

Thank you everyone for you advice.
I was brave yesterday and dealt with it. I spole to work who are going to lend me a little cash so that I can pay a small lump sum towards it. They will then only take the loan they have lent me back when I have had a good commision month, so I dont have to add it to my monthly spends as it will come out of money that I dont budget for, as never know how much I will get.
I then phoned mortgage company. First person wasnt very nice and made me feel awful and not want to talk to the collections department. The women in the collections deparment must be an angel as she was really nice and understanding. She said if I paid the lump sum then they would agree extra monthly payments. I hadnt realised my mortgage was going down £30 this month anyway, so said I would pay that plus some to get it cleared. She said it would still have a court hearing but that the courts would be more than happy with the payment plan, as long as stuck to it. She told me to call back on Monday once I had time to think through the payments and we can then get it all sorted.
So the moral is - face up to it and its not always as bad as it seems. Shall keep everyone updated on how it goes, but wouldnt have called them without all the help from everyone on here. Thank you.MAY NSD's
