Indesit W123UK fault

Hey
I was wondering if anybody technically minded might be able to assist with a recent fault that has caused chaos
My Indesit white W123UK washing machine has developed a fault. It is turning and making the correct noise. It turns for 5 seconds ish to the left, then to the right, then pauses, then repeats. The number indicator wont move off "4". I tried switching off, leaving it overnight and switching back on, with a different program setting, but it just continues turning left and right, and the dial clicks back round to number 4.
Normally, when I switch the machine on and set a program, it flashes 3 times then starts the program, but this isnt doing that. Its like its stuck.
4 children and a huge pile of clothes is making me appeal to anyone who may know what could be causing this issue. The last thing I want is to pay an engineer a week before christmas.
If anyone could assist, or even tell me how to reset it, that would be a huge help.
Thanks in advance

Hello jaybo
Do you still have the instruction manual for your washing machine? If not, here is a link which might help you to find the manual.
Kind Regards

Thanks for the reply:
it points me to: For indesit manual try https://www.indesit.co.uk
which I tried already this morning, unfortunately, my washing machine isnt listed on that site, ive rang the customer services to see if they could email me a pdf of the manual, but they are very unhelpful unless im purchasing a part. I might need to purchase a part, but I dont know what to look for or what part is required (if any):eek:0 -
still no joy

o dear the pile is huge now.:eek:0 -
Does the timer advance when you put it on rinse & spin. If it does then it would probably the heating element.
As I type I just thought. You never mentioned if the machine is taking in water. If not then it may be kink in hose or faulty inlet valve assuming no one has turned off the water.0 -
yes, the machine takes in water
the timer does "tick" back round to the programme 4
thanks for the reply:eek:0 -
It sounds like a heater fault - may be a broken terminal on the heater.
In the meantime, you could wait 'til the machine sticks, turn it off, advance the timer one click, switch back on, and then it should finish the cycle OK.
It means that it will be washing in cold water but may be better than nothing.0 -
thanks for the reply
I can take the lid off and have a look.
will it be obvious? like a terminal that has fell off.:eek:0 -
I'm not familiar with that model, but the heater is often at the back of the machine behind the rear panel.
If you're going to have a look - pull the plug out first!!!
