Egypt + GPS

Hi,

Has anybody had a problems with taking GPS phones/equipment to Egypt on holiday? I was hoping to geo-tag my photos, however GPS equipment is currently 'illegal' there

I've never had a problem, and really would never expect to.

Whilst the sale of GPS enabled devices, phones, PDA's etc may well still not be permitted in Egypt, it doesn't mean that the place isn't awash with all the latest GPS enabled devices imported from elsewhere.

What the law actually says with regard to tourists carrying GPS enabled phones and devices I don't know, but one only has to consider the percentage of visitors entering Egypt on a daily basis that will be carrying a GPS phone or similar to realise that the authorities don't concern themselves.
