Please don't pay the full RRP of £97.50 for this product

... or even higher even allowing for the added £34 extra gizmo that QVC were selling it with. (after delivery charges were added - the item is offered by the company & John Lewis for £97.50 including delivery)

As explained on Dragons Den, the bought landed price of this basic unit is £27, the wholesale price is £55.

Now I now people need to make a profit but please!

This item is available from Ligo for £82.99 delivered. (£72.17 less the VAT)

Anyone know of a cheaper seller? Let the price war begin :)

Now, I know it is legal to record calls without the other person's knowledge if it is for your own use, but does anyone know where I would stand if I were to record the call if I were to ring up my bank?

My reasoning is that they always record the call anyway, so the other person would already be aware the call was being recorded - just not aware that it is at both ends! Legally where would I stand with that if I were to use my recording in any action against the bank (or insurance company or whoever?)
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

You should really start a new thread to ask that question.

I'm forced to pay my TV licence for these thieves and idiots. And no, I won't be starting a new thread.

Don't pay the £97 for one of these devices! They are now available on Amazon for £77.

While I'm on, they are offering "TrueCall Memory Cards" as well.
But have you seen the prices? These are, after all, just SD cards. And SD cards are CHEAP..
Someone's just stuck a label over an SD card, and trebled the price.

Has anyone tried using a standard SD card in a TrueCall?

  • Have just purchased one of these units. Attempted to insert ordinary 2gb SD card. The machine tells you to remove the card ! It seems that the Truecall card has own built in software so there's no way round it, you have to purchase the real thing. Have just purchased one on Ebay , 70 hour version, for just over £16 delivered. There may be people like me out there who have discovered that they live in an area where Virgin Media don't supply Caller ID. I have had to go back to BT as my phone provider. They will do this free for you until the end of September but you must sign up for 18 months. They will also throw in caller display free if you ask them nicely !

And the 10 chargeable OR inclusive calls per month you will have to make in order to jump through the necessary hoops to get the free installation deal exceeds the 2 such calls per month you must make to qualify for BT Privacy (i.e. free Caller Display).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

£59.99 + FREE Delivery is the cheapest I've seen them selling for at Play.com.

    Anyone find them cheaper?
