Ford Ka Head Lamp Bulb!!! AAAHHH!

Cant beleive how difficult it is to change the bulb on my cars headlamp. Looked under the bonnett and i can see no way on earth how to get to the bulbs! The break lights are the easiest in the world, but i wouldnt even know where to start on the front ones.

Then i thought, oh well i'll take it to Halfords, they fit bulbs, but oh no! i asked them and they said they arent insured to do ford Kas, its to difficult to do.
I've now got to take it to the garage and all just to take a bloody bulb out and put a new one in.

is there an easier way for if i need to change the other one or do i just have to take it to the garage every time!?

So to change a bulb , you need to take a wheel off

I've a Ka and the headlights are fiddly but easy to change in place without removing the wheels...

Infact I'm baffled as to why anyone would suggest that when it's such an easy job but as above just a little fiddly due to the lack of space

I think I read somewhere that there's supposed to be some EU rule on ease of bulb change for the consumer on cars, but that most manufacturers get around it with telling you to go to the dealers in the manual.

The dealers may tell you the bulbs are difficult to change for safety, but apparently there are cars that have very easily changeable bulbs that meet the highest safety specs in the tests. At the end of the day the dealers are hoping you come along asking them to change the bulb so they can take £50 off your hands.

Peculiar thing is in some countries it is the law you carry bulbs - don't see what help they are if you can't change them.

Its a pain in the a*se changing the headlight without removing the battery on the focus....I have big hands and find it pretty difficult to get to the bulb on the passenger side!

    Thanks maniac886 , we are right .
Whip the battery out , give yourself some room
quote just look with your hands! , thats why God gave me eyes!!

After struggling with the changing of bulbs, if someone told me to take the wheel off
Would give it very serious attention.

Ps some of us have 'big hands' and we all know wot that means!

yep, they make your peni$ look smaller.

i fix things for a living (time served heavy vehicle mechanic) and often use my fingers to feel things rather than look if its not possible. removing the battery takes time, then theres reprogramming the stereo.
if you are competant you can do it without removing the battery. my hands are pretty big too.
the focus is a stroll in the park to change bulbs compared to some manufacturers.

theres no right and wrong answer to this, just your capability.
