Dont worry it was only a shot of her writing in a notebook.

I've just downloaded a great programme I found on Google which can help you with meal planning. I dont think I can get my meals any cheaper though.

Don't worry Moonbeam, it just showed the wife sitting down with a few (presumably) recipe books and a notepad spread out. On Martin's advice, of course. We didn't get to see what she came up with, although if the prog had its well-deserved 3-hour slot I'm sure we would have!
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

  • oh thats ok then I don't feel so bad now :)

black-saturn - that meal planning programme sounds good - would it be possible for you to put a link on?

I loved the bit where she decided that over £900 a year for having her legs waxed could be done without but could not do without her cleaner!

Also noticed that the recipe book she was using as a meal planner looked rather fancy and hence pricey for ingredients.

  • Well it's certainly a tough choice..hairy legs or dust on top of the tv  and one that i frequently wrestle with..not! :snow_laug

Can i second the request for the meal planning programme link ? I have to admit that i too end up throwing food away :o but I know this is down to lack opf planning and that is my new years resolution (along with losing weight).

First one i had ever seen today..my excuse is that i have a 3yrd old so having the chance to sit down and watch something that's on at 2.30pm is virually impossible (grandma had him today ;)) but i was impressed and i really do think this should be on later on.
    Brendan's new dance partner...please :D

There's no magic formula to the meal planning. Just determine yourself to note down what meals you will serve the family for the forthcoming week/fortnight/month, work out what ingredients you already have, and make a shopping list (weekly/fortnightly/monthly) for what you will need to buy.

I've found however that being distracted by reduced stuff and special offers can interfere with the best of plans, so you'll need to keep it a bit flexible.

Here it is but beware it also put loads of icons on my desktop (which ou can delete) and also changed my homepage to something else (which I changed back). However, the menu planner seems to look quite good:

well seeing as you won't i will ;)

it seemed to me that it was obvious where they were wasting money, like leg waxes and cleaners, not that cleaners aren't worth their salt if they help you make money, but this family seemed oblivious to the obvious.

but if the prog. gave them a 'kick up the backside', then it was a success

we waste food, but we're getting better. that happened because we still bought for 4 when there's only 2 of us, but the expression on the wifes face when she saw what she wasted was a picture.

i still think the inanimate farmyard prop gets a lot of airtime, but i'm not sure what could replace it. a big cheque book to match the big calculator maybe?

and tesco's must love Martin's plugs about those vouchers ;)

when are the really desperate ppl going to get an airing?
