Npower Standard Tariff

Options
Hi there

i am having problems with finding out information from NPower.

In brief - i moved into my home (renting) 1st October 206 and unbeknown to me the meter was a economy 7 meter. The house was re vamped just before i moved in but the landlord did not inform NPower that the storage heaters had been taken out. so for 2 years i have been on the Wrong tariff.

I have asked in writing over the phone and by email for Npower to give me the prices of what the standard rate tarrif would have been from 1st october 2006 untill 12th November 2008 but the keep sending me tariffs from October 2008.

Does anyone have any old Npower bills on the standard tariff that they could tell me what the prices charged were so i can see how much i have overpaid for my eletricity.

regards

I'm not sure what the value of the old tariffs will be to you, other than depress you further about how much money you could have saved by being on a different tariff.

nPower will not rebill you because you have now discovered there was a cheaper tariff available to you for the past 2 years. If you wish to change from E7 to non-E7, nPower will arrange it but only from today.

I'm not sure if nPower are one of the companies who can add two figures together to bill you at a single rate, or will be a company that requires the meter to be changed to a single rate one. If so, they may charge you. (You should also gain the LLs permission if a change of meter is necessary)

Just give them a call and they will inform you of your options and any costs that might be incurred. :)

  • Hi

thank you for your response. The meter has been changed with permision from the landlord. I need to know what the standard tarrif was from 1st october 2006 till 12 November 2008 as i can work out what i should have been paying and i am going to claim it back from the landlord not npower as it was there responsibility to inform npower they had taken out the economy 7 heaters and put in oil filled central heating.

so if anyone could just give me the prices charged per unit for the period above i would be most greatful.

Sorry, but an owner doesn't have any responsibility to tell a supplier that a property has storage heaters removed. There are many properties that are on an E7 tariff without electric storage heating ever having been installed.

It is up to the account holder to decide what tariff they wish to be supplied on. If they choose the wrong one, then they can ask to be transferred to a different tariff, but that will only be effective from the date of the transfer.

Why is the Landlord accepting responsibility for a mistake you made in accepting the wrong tariff for 2 years?

I think you are wasting your time thinking the Landlord will pay for something he is not responsible for! ;)
