• MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

    Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

    Everything except the home phone, which is on a charger, gets switched off in our house. I noticed that my DAB radio would give off a hum, even when it was turned off, so now the plug gets pulled out as well.

    I just bought a plug socket thing called an intellipanel for all the bits. If the sky box is £10 per year then I reckon we'll do ok. I couldn't turn off my tv- it only had standby.

  • This is a similar nice little thread with some similar ideas;

    Recently I've started turning off at the wall; Washing machine, coffee pod machine, PC's, TV's, DVD and game consoles.

    For those hard to access places I've bought some of these type of remote control plugs which are available from several places;

    I think I've reduced consumption by around 20% using these measures.
