Hello. i have come up with a really good idea and want to know who to contact and get it all started up. it's an electrical "thing".

i won't want to approach just anyone incase they steal my idea, but will need help to get it produced

any ideas/help gratefully recieved.

If it's novel and therefore patentable, there have been discussions about patenting in the past. Not necessarily on this board, however, so have a look on Discussion Time as well, you'll have to search. If you don't find it there, it could have been somewhere else which isn't particularly helpful I know but maybe a wider search will turn it up!

You should also try and get hold of some materials about innovation and intellectual property rights - Patent Office do a series of handouts and their website is helpful.

Open University did a booklet called "Build a Better Mousetrap" as support to a course on Innovation and Design a few years ago - well worth reading as it will test you and your thinking - unfortunately not all good ideas are saleable and there is a lot to do before they will even be considered seriously.
