bath plug not holding the water

it's strange but really annoying...
my bathtub is less than 10 years old and suddenly the rubber bath plug was letting the water out very very slowly.
I have bought a couple of replacements now and none of them seems to seal the plug hole completely.
the only thought i had was that the silver metal drain piece has shifted so its not flat anymore???
any thoughts? has anyone ever come across this before?

Have you looked under the bath to make sure its not leaking down the side of the drain? It could be worth taking it apart, cleaning it up and then putting it back together. you can also get some horrible stuff called plumbers mate which will help seal just about anything.0

As latecomer says it is more likely that there is a slow leak where the bath waste exits the bath. Check under the bath with a strong light and you should be able to see if there is a weep. If there is, then it is definitely the bath waste, and not the plugI can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
