Your tunes will stay on if you reboot your PC.

Rebooting = Turning it off and on again - are you sure thats what you mean?

No I mean an f10 reboot - potentially losing files etc. Wondered if there was a way of saving your tunes to another source and reloading back to your computer?

    F10 Reboot?

Again - thats not a technical term.

I'm *geussing* that you mean do a factory restore? If so - you will need to back up your tunes to somewhere else (i.e. an external HDD).

It should be possible to put all the tunes on your iPod, and then drag them back off the iPod to your PC, but i'm not sure - I *think* you need to use YamiPod for this.

You're going about it the wrong way, if you still have access to your music on your computer, then you should back that up, as well as all your other data. At it's simplest, this will involve probably an external hard drive, and copy 'My Documents' onto it. I'm assuming that you haven't changed any default places for stuff to go. After you have got it all backed up, you can restore your computer, copy the data back into the right place, THEN install and run iTunes, and it will pick up your library where you left off, even with the play count etc intact.
If, however, there IS a problem with your computer meaning you can't access your music, then do google and download 'yamipod' which is a program that can access your iPod instead of iTunes, and you can copy the music from it onto your computer. Ask any questions you need to!
