The deposit side has been totally covered therefore the only issue is how the husband was treated and unfortunately we have only heard one side of the story. Maybe the husband went in overly agressive and used equally abusive language at the sales assistant (therefore the assitant was only responsinding to how they were treated), maybe the husband is scared of the wife and made it all up so as not to look weak ... who knows? The problem you will have is that it is one persons word against another.
I would say learn by your mistake and avoid the shop in future. Possibly send them a letter of complaint saying you are disgusted at the treatment of DH.
