..........in asking why all of a sudden there is NOTHING about "best savings/investments" etc etc mentioned in Martin's Money Tips?

Investments are regulated and what is best will depend on circumstances. You have 13 or so different tax wrappers. So, which is right for you? You have around 50,000 investment options, so how do you narrow that down to a one size fits all recommendation?
And then how do you explain to the FSA that you are giving advice when you are neither qualified or authorised to do so?
If many people were foolish enough to think that Martin was giving advice on non-regulated areas and kicked up a stink, could you imagine what it would be like on regulated areas?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
