outlook express problem

Hi all!

Since last night my e-mails seem to reach their destination in a different format from what I originally send, and the receiver has no idea of what the message actually is. Also the subject line arrives deleted. Example: <META content=3D"MSHTML 6.00.2900.2769" name=3DGENERATOR>
<STYLE></STYLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY bgColor=3D#ffffffBU“Ó•˜XÙOLÑZÛXHÛÛ܏LÑÌ CBœÚ^™OLÑ ˜ÚX[Ï Ñ“Ó•ÂôD•`ð½ =døð½!Q50ø4(4(´´´´´´õ}9•áÑA…ÉÑ|ÀÀÁ|ÀÀÌá|ÀÅ ØÀÁÔ¸ÄÈäÙÀäÀ´´4(4(

what is this?
I have run antivirus, which has detected no trojan/script or virus...

Can anyone help?

Thank you very much. :xmassign:

    Looks to me as though that qualifies as HTML so your friend has probably played around with the way OE views their messages. As a workaround, you could change the way that YOU send messages to them? To do this click on their name in the Contacts\Address Book portion of OE ie: their email address, right click, select Properties, select Read Tab, put a tick or check mark in the small box to "send email as plain text only". This will mean that you send them email without any flashy stationery or pictures used as backgrounds and that if you do, then they shall be received by the recipient as attachments.

    As for any advice to them. There are just too many options that they may have changed to run through. At the very least, if English isn't their native language then you may like to enqurie as to whether they have any language packs installed and if so, make sure they are using English or Western ISO to view the emails they receive from you ie: in OE by going to Tools\Options\Read Tab where it says "Fonts" at the bottom of that tab and "Click here to change the fonts and default encoding used when reading". Click the button marked "Fonts" it should show "Western European ISO" if it doesn't, change it so it does. Apply and Ok. Then click the International Settings button and it should show "Western European ISO", with the tick or check box unticked or unchecked. They may like to tick that, though OE should interpret which language style to use without them doing so. Apply and Ok as appropriate. Then try reading the message again.

    Of course this is a "best guess" so it maybe easier to find out from your friend, what has changed since the last time they received a message from you? Ie: have they installed something recently, applied any udpates to OE etc?

    HTH
    It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

    Thank you for your help.

    I will check my OE settings but my friend is in the UK.
