BT Call Centre

Does BT use untrained monkeys to answer questions in their call centre?

I have received a lot of silent calls, all marked INTERNAT on the Caller ID.

So I put a complaint into BT to ask what I could do as I could not trace the company or number; and I am supposedly on the TPS!

However I made it clear that I have relatives abroad so cannot block international numbers!

So what did they suggest, using Anonymous Call Reject so I can block all international numbers.

Useless dimwits.

Then they sent me the survey to answer how well they did - that was fun!

Just an aside, I actually got someone on the end of one of these calls, and it was a research company, and they have removed me, and no more calls. So at least its over!

Sorry I don't understand the part in bold. To me suggesting 'anonymous call reject' would be a sensible thing to do, if you think it's sales calls/unknown calls. But that isn't to say that all international calls are anonymous? I might have this wrong....
  • Just had a thought.... Alot of companies use 'dialler' systems, where the computer automatially dials out and it takes a few seconds for the person calling to hear that you have answered, possibly why you kept hearing silence? glad you got it fixed though.

TPS can do nothing about international calls - overseas companies are not bound by the same rules as UK based companies. Thats what TPS told me last week anyway!
  • I think you also have to renew with the TPS once a year or something.

Also tps is not enough, you have to register for something called silent callguard on the tps site.Still that doesn't block international silent calls.

Irish numbers come through on CLI, and is ever expanding.

However the whole point is I cannot block international numbers, as I have relatives abroad and they come through as "Internat" on the CLI, so my point is this :- What is the point of recommending a product I've already told them I cannot use!

I was hoping that they could identify the country of origin, or tie it in with other complaints!
