Hope someone can help me out with this one
my son had a Techwood ( I know foolish buying one of them but..)
plama 42" tele with a seperate tuner box, a couple of weeks ago the picture developed some vertical lines mainly red in colour about 1" apart right the way across the screen, the day after the tuner box would not come on with the standby red light kind of pulsing, After searching on the web I found that the tuner was faulty, so replaced it with one from ebay, this worked ok for a few hours then the lines have reappeared, do you think the screen is on its way out, or could it be the lead from the screen to the tuner? any ideas would be grateful.

What sort of cable is it connecting the tuner to the screen?
Does anyone you know have a different cable you could try?
Have you tried using the tuner on another TV to see if it works there?0 -
thanks for your reply, the cable is named as an lvds it quite like a pc cable that you have to sqeeze the sides of it, we do have another plasma tv but this has a built in tuner so cant try it on that, i have tried removing the lvds cable but the screen just switches of it must take its power through that, someone did suggest that it could be having a games console attached so that has been unplugged and its still the same, we dont know anyone else with the same tv and the cable appears to only used on the techwood plasma.0

Well
Ive never heard of them ~ so just now googled them and came up with this ~
http://www.verdicts.co.uk/home_entertainment/review/review-4111.html
Ive NEVER seen such bad reviews on a tv in my life!
In short, id say its knackered. By all means borrow a scart lead to try that out, but im 99% sure your tvs had its day.:idea:0 -
SOG act.........how old is the telly?0
-
the tv is almost 5yrs old0
-
From reading the reviews above, you've done well lasting 5 years!
Try the SAG act, as a TV should last 6 years. They might offer something towards repair or replacement.
Have you tried a scart lead with a dvd player?0 -
It would appear that everything has to go through the tuner no connections on the monitor all scart leads go into the tuner and the tuner connects to monitor via an ldvs lead the monitor also takes its power from the tuner, I rang currys where it was purchased and they want an engineers report that is going to cost but may be worth a try.0

By 'tuner' I assume you mean its the 'connection box'
There wont be anything wrong with the lead between that and your tv (Unless its INCREDIBLY poor quality!)
Id guess its had its day. It sounds such a bad tv I personally wouldnt even CONSIDER getting ity fixed:idea:0
