my alarm normally switches of after 20 mins but due to the lightning it effected it, i woildnt just reliy on knowing your alarm switches off after 20 mins RING the noise nusaince and give them your mobile number and all key holders or friends who can contact you ,apparently the noise nusaince people said every body who has an alarm should know about ringing them and leaving key holders numbers, ive never heard this before!

I would send my local council a bill for, trespassing, and vandalism, to the tune of £278, itemised as follows

    1st class stamp - 30p
    Envelope- 4p
    1 sheet of A4 paper - 0.5p
    Injet Ink - 0.5p
    Electric - 1p
    Admin - £277.64

I was also ask for a copy of the court order to enter your property and destoy your bell box and the police officers who carried out the court order? And a certificate of insurance liabilty for the bloke who wrecked your bell box, then write a letter to his insuracne company claiming he broke your bell box and you want £100 for repairs.

Also ask them to prove their case that you where not home at the time, you could have been testing your alarms backup battery by running a full alarm condtion for an hour or two and you where wearing ear defenders at the time and didnt hear to door or the alarm was so loud you didnt hear the door and provide written evidence, and ask under the data protection act for all files and information releating to the so called 'incident' including anyone who may have contacted the council to make a complaint in the first place. Also argue that 8pm is not an unreasonable time for you to be making some noise, the quiet zone is 11pm-7am. My chainsaw makes 118Db of nosie and my alarm 115Db, can I not cut down trees at 8pm? Will I be arrested or fined - I THINK NOT!

Failing that, I would buy 10 bell boxes, and test them every night from 6pm till 10.59pm to annoy the $%$%"%$ who reported you.

A burglar wouldnt even get a £278 fine for breaking in.

RIPP-OFF BRITAIN - DONT BE A SUCKER AND PAY.

Beat them at their own game, there will be a way out of paying - you just have to find it.

    Hello

SO HERES WHAT TO DO .
You need to phone up your local noise nusaince and register a key holder for your house (someone who can turn the alarm off if your ever not avalible) you can register as many as you like (register lots).

I never knew you had to do this( i do belive its a good idea) but the council dont tell you because its money in thier pocket .
So dont leave it, do it now, noise nusaince are open 24hours or it could cost you £278 or more like it did me .
has any body else had the same problem?

whats so good about having an alarm that probably costs more to report than install?

we have them where we live, and they're mainly all switched off, but its a quiet place anyway. the only way i know we all have them is when there's a storm, which there frequently is, and it knocks everyones alarm off. but never for longer than about 15 to 20 minutes. we'd all be reporting each other in a storm ;)

but thanks for the warning. i'll print it out and send it to the nearest neighbourhood watch person. he lives next door and his alarm goes off more than ours ;)

Police Officers don't attend alarms with the council. The council have all the powers to deal with these issues and so it's no good asking for the numbers of the Police that attended, because they wouldnt have gone with the EHO officer to carry out the silencing of the alarm. EHO only ask for the Police when they are going to serve noise abatement notices such as at Parties or other confrontational issues.
