Can't install 2nd printer; P.C. sees it as removable drive.

I'm trying to install a second printer (Epson DX7000F multi-functional) and am not having any luck.

I've connected it using the correct printer-to-USB cable and installed the software (including driver, presumably) which was supplied but it won't print. The P.C. only recognises the printer as "Removable Disk (G:)" and constantly asks me to insert the installation CD-ROM every time I boot up and I also now get a "Server Busy" dialogue box every time I boot:

"Server Busy: this action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose "Switch To" to activate the busy program and correct the problem."

My current printer is connected by both Parallel cable and USB (don't know which one the P.C. and printer actually use) but I haven't ever had any problems. I'd like to use the second mainly for scanning and faxing.

I'm sure I've made some elementary mistakes somewhere.

Can anyone help?

Did you install the driver before connecting the new printer?

Does it have a built in card reader, this could be where the removable drive aspect comes in to it.
As the previous post suggested, you could try uninstalling it then installing the software before plugging it into the PC

also try running your original printer to just one cable- USB or parallel - if it can just use one cable then simplify down to this. it could cause some kind of conflict along the line - even if it hasnt done yet -
