strange sound

I can hear a dripping sound from the loft. I can find no leaks from the roof.
It happens only when the central heating is turned on. what can it be?

Worth investigating...NOW, I'd say.

Not been cold enough for freezing pipes, so maybe just a leak on a joint??? The heating being turned back on, will have made it more apparent, but might be drying the escaped water, at the same time!!

Find it fast - else a damp patch & a hole in the ceiling will find it for you!!

It might be the central heating pumping over into the header tank via the vent, this is usually caused by a blockage of sludge where the cold feed and vent meet above the pump (if installed in the correct place) and air seperators are notorious for blocking up (small copper vessel that resembles a miniature watering can usually at a high point in the airing cupboard).

It may be something as innocuous as condensation dripping from the vent or from inside the lid of the header tank, but if you can hear it then it's more likely that it is actively pumping over.

Thanks. The sound is possibly coming from above the airing cupboard. Can it be fixed easily. I am no plumbing expert but could give it a try.
