How long do scones keep?

I too believe that fresh is better but the catch ( a good catch though) is that I'm off to Paris tomorrow, very early, and they arrive later in the day to stay at our place... Hence me making them in advance. I just wanted something 'English' for them when they arrive. I'll tell them to reheat them and smother them in jam and they will be none the wiser. Unless they read this!0

I pop them in the microwave for a few seconds if they are more than a day old. Really freshens them up. Enjoy your trip to Paris.0

Yep the ole microwave trick - works every time0

I froze half a batch my mum brought round the other day. (Baked in her remoska, guys) Thought they weren't so nice when defrosted - a bit dry. Mind you, we still managed to choke them down!0

I end up baking a double batch of scones every other day here - between breakfast, snacks or DH's lunchbox they don't last long - very quick and easy to put together, and they cook beautifully in the remoska!MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

hi all I have just made a batch of lovely scones but was wondering what is the best way to store them and how long they will keep for?
Can they also be frozen?
Thanks

They freeze well and probably keep better like that than in a plastic box or tin. Probably about a week normally if not frozen(simular to bread really). I like them toasted so they are warm again mmmmmmmm. Especially cheese scones yummy.

Hi pinkhayley,
I think scones are best eaten on the same day as they are baked but they do freeze well. Just pop them into a hot oven once defrosted, for a few minutes for that fresh baked taste.
There's an earlier thread on how long to keep scones so I'll add your thread to it to keep the replies together.
This thread may help too:
Can u Freeze Scones?

I would eat the same day or the next day.
If storing them, I use an old biscuit tin and line with greaseproof paper. Pop the scones in and then fold the paper over the top before putting the lid on.0
