PS I copied in Incisor's post as I agree with it, make sure the meter actually supplies your flat,. and not the whole building.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.

Can't your girlfirend read the meters? Both of you go together? When you say it has been sorted, I guess you mean you're only bening charged for the dates that apply to you?

It may be worth contacting the fuel supplier, as I thought they had a responsibility to read meters at least once every 2 years - it sounds this hasn't been read in ages. You ought to write to their customer relations department, and if no joy, write to the regulatory body about it, but at the same tim, pursue it with the landlord too.

I can read the meter myself, if I knew where it was!!!

The meain problem here has been that I have no idea where the meter is, and I did not know who the provider was, there are many choces, and I had no idea witch I should be paying to. Being as no bills ever came, this never got clearer.

So I rang m-number and m-pass, and they could not find the flat. The flat I was living in, was called 14b. They could only find flat 1 13-14. Or 14. I think they where trying to charge me for the whole house that used to be 14, and massve 3 stroey house.

It will say on your bill, an MPAN (meter point administration number) will be quoted at th etop of your billand this must be a meter also, if they are different you need to establish which unit/flat/house the actual meter supplies.

Are the bills in your name? Or in the Agents/Landlord?
If the bills are not in your name, then you are not liable for them, send them back to where they came from. They can not hold you responsible for bills not in your name. If they are in your name then contact the companies. If you want help then go to the CAB, they are very very helpful.

Any comments I make on here are my opinions, having worked in the lettings industry, and through life.

Does the bill actually say Flat 14b? You can use your council tax bill to prove you were living there for just 6 months, as you would have been paying CT somewhere else beforehand and afterwards.

Is there anyone living in the house/flat now so you could go and talk to them and find out if they're having the same problem?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
