Help! - Wireless Networking - Ntl Broadband

I am looking to set up a wireless network between my main desktop pc (xp, ntl broadband) with my laptop (which is already wireless enabled) and also we wish to set up x-box live.
We have no network card in the main pc so I would be looking at purchasing a compatible pci card to the router at the same time.
I have looked at netgear wpn824, but in some forums it says the set-up is a nightmare, but others have said it was no problem. A colleague has mentioned an i-link router (but I am having problems finding this one), and a buffalo router has been mentioned.
I don't have a problem in purchasing the router, a compatible pci card and whatever else is required, but I am loathe to waste my hard-earned dosh on a kit that won't work.
I'm entirely green on this subject, so any advice would be gratefully received.

They probably mean D-Link. I like their kit. It has a reputation for being easy to set up. If you get any manufacturer’s kit that’s referred to as “802.11g”, with or without an extra “b” in that, it should all work together. That’s the stuff that has a quoted speed of 54Mbps, although you’ll never see that as the true through put of the connection.sassybird wrote:A colleague has mentioned an i-link router (but I am having problems finding this one), and a buffalo router has been mentioned.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0 -

Hi.....I have very recently set up a wireless network at home for home pc which has NTL cable for broadband and two laptops both wireless enabled - all running on XP. Not sure about your x-box live - does it have usb or ethernet connection ...and to what?
Anyway ignoring the xbox for the moment, what you need is this:
ntl cable>>>>>>to ntl modem>>>>>>>(via ethernet connection) to new router>>>>>>>>>(via ethernet connection) back to new network card installed in pc . Router then configured wirelessly to laptop(s). In other words your new router is connected by wire to pc and wirelessly to laptop(s).
I had no network card either for my pc and after some research bought this:

plus a spare ethernet cable
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000122528/qid=1134604097/
sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_0_4/203-9469097-4146300
Now the big question...what router???
After some research plus lots of help/guidence from this site I went for this one:
KCORP Lifestyle KLG-575 108g
I bought this from Amazon too - the whole lot above cost about £45 delivered. Unfortunately the KCorp is out of stock virtually everywhere now - but you can find them on ebay
eg

Read the various reviews on the above router. I've been very pleased with mine. Security on it is good too with WPA-PSK encryption.
