Touch pad problems

Hi can anyone help me fix the touchpad on my Toshiba Satellite it hasn't been working for a few months now, my ex bf was using the laptop and i dont know what he has done to it tbh.

If memory serves I had a similar problem with my laptop before. It turned out that the touchpad was simply 'turned off' in the mouse/input devices menu under Control Panel. Have you been using it with a mouse instead? Hi i followed the first link and got to the printers and other hardware step only to find i dont have a hardware part just a printer bit so am now wondering where it has gone to?, i tried the second link and got totally confused by it.0

go to control panel again , then look for mouse , then click on the Hardware tab and see if it's there , or under the "settings" tab

Have managed to find it there are two the synaptics ps/2 port touchpad and a HID compliant mouse which are both working properly (and both enabled) its a toshiba satellite l30-101 model number psl33e-029023en0
