my mother in law changed to npower 18 months ago told to pay £35 month, average bills £100 after 9mths got a bill for £1500 rang up they said her metre had been changed, it was outside and hadnt, next bill was £1000 after much arguing they said it had increased because she put her electric blanket on and it was getting colder, she hasnt got an electric blanket, they then said her fishtank was using £20 a day to run eventually they said the first 3 bills were estimated even though they were outside and they had put a new number on her meter, dont know why, so now with a bill outstanding of nearly £2000 they said she had to pay them £150 month from now on, she is 71 years old and now very worried, any advice please

So, you MIL's meter hasn't been changed?
What was the opening meter reading eighteen months ago and what is it now?

What do you mean 'put a new number on her meter?

    Sorry for all questions!

Sorry to be a bit short about this. Just because nPower try to tell you why the bill is right with all kinds of rubbish about fishtanks and electric blankets, there is no need for you to go off down a similar path of saying why it is wrong with info about monthly payments and the amounts of bills.

The one key issue to sort before going any further is METER READINGS. Do you have a full set of bills? Do the readings look right? All of them over the whole 18 months When did the discrepancy about the meter no slip in? Once you ahve the truth about the meter readings, you will either be getting nPower to provide a corrected bill for the right readings or you will be getting to the bottom of why the consumption is so high. But don't fret about it until you have sorted what has happened with the readings.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?
