Notification failure of bank charges

I have been having a problenm with my bank Nationwide since august this year. It all started with a DD that wen wrong in August. The insurance company had took my DD out on the wrong date and then tried every day toi get it again.
I rung the bank and they told me that they would cancel the DD and that they would expect me to pay 60 of the charges to settle my account back in order. Since then I have had to place 500 pounds into my account to try to stop the bank charges. The bank does not notify me that it will take the charges and told me this could be checked online. I have never seen any charges shown on my online account where they told me it would be. I have never had a statement for this account until today where I have now been sent one for last peroiod 20th September. This means that the bank took the money out with out my account without my knowlege. I am horrified that the Nationwide bank can steel 230 pounds of my money without telling me they intend to take the money and when. They tell me that I am running my account wrong but to be honest how can I run an account when they dip into it at will and take my money. I tied to close the account and they said that I could not as there was still a further 50 pound oustanding to be charged onto it. When I asked what the charges where for I was not told and they would not tell me.
I have spoken to the ombudsman and logged a complaint. And am having trouble getting a final letter from the bank regarding this
Any help would be appericiated

If this was not your fault the you can claim the money back off the insurance compay.
Also how about starting the ball rolling with claiming your bank charges back? You can find all the letters on here to print off and to post to them.
Good luck with this mate and good luck with your complaint.
I hope you get your money back:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Unfortunately the banks are really strict at the moment with refunding charges, so it's very unlikely you'll get them. What you need to do is send a copy of your statement to your insurance company as they should be refunding the charges. You can also make a claim to your bank, although you won't get anything until the Test Case has completed.0
