Two Amex cards?

in Credit cards
Hi all,
Just been trying to make my mind up about the next credit card. I had a spot of bother with my HSBC card (probably had it for about 12 years in all) which was cancelled as some low life cloned it and took over £5k in cash. Then the bank seemed to imply it was my fault... well they were not very helpful and it took quite a while on the phone, then police reports, got the money back on next statement, then they went and tried to take the whole amount from my other bank account, which bounced. More charges... you get the idea, I wasn't having it.
Anyway after a couple of months just using a debit card I've decided the two I like the look of are:
Amex Blue - for cashback
Amex Nectar - for the 6000 points joining
Just not sure as they are both the same company if I can actually go for them?
If I apply for Nectar then it has to be before the end of the month, then they might think I am being cheeky going for Amex Blue afterwards. Or I could do it the other way round but that means two credit checks in as many weeks. Blue is quite hard to get anyway I hear. I applied for it many years ago, when it was first on the market and got rejected. My personal circumstances have changed since then therefore my credit score should be better now hopefully
Any suggestions?
PS. REMEMBER TO COVER THE KEYPAD WHEN ENTERING YOUR PIN you'll never know if some thieving b****** has your details until you get you next statement

You can apply for both Amex cards together. You might find that the second card you apply for has a much lower limit though, but you should be able to transfers limits between the two cards.0

The Blue cashback is not all that good any more (the platinum cashback is better).
You also earn Nectar points on the the Nectar card that can be as good as (or better than) the Blue card depending on where you shop.
Also, note that you will need to spend at least £500 per year on both cards unless you want to pay a £15 annual sericing fee.0
