Glad has advised me to post my answer here.
I didn't register any numbers. I just phoned O2 and told them that I wasn't keeping the sims and how could I protect them for whoever would get them and they advised me to register a password with each number and only the person who was in receipt of the sim and the password would be able to register it.

Wanted to know about a number I have and if it was a gold number?
It is 07722 **2222
anyone have any ideas?
I sold this today on ebay. Was at £5 for a while then last half hour it went to £10 which I said I would be happy with.
Ended up going for £27. So well pleased. Not bad for something that cost me nothing.0
