Argos Charging Twice For Each Transaction
Comments

This exact same thing happened to me about 10 years ago from a DIY store (can't remember which one, sorry!)
The money did arrive back into my account automatically after a few days, but in the meantime, it caused me to go overdrawn, as I had other payments going out by DD & I wasn't aware of the double transaction at the time.
I got in touch with their customer service & had to fax off a copy of my bank statement showing the two transactions & how it had caused me to go overdrawn & incurred a charge in between. I did get my bank charges back by way of a cheque, along with a letter of apology, but it all took a few weeks, by the time my monthly statement arrived, etc, etc. They didn't throw anything in for "goodwill" though, it was all to the exact penny of the bank charge, even though I'd incurred other charges with phonecalls, etc.
If it does cause you to go overdrawn, I'd definitely take it up with them, but if it hasn't I don't expect you will hear anything further!
Good luck!
Suzi ;0)Everything I wanna do is either illegal, immoral or fattening! lol :rotfl:0 -
my refund has arrived back in my account this morning. I bet there is a big pile of interest accumulated in Argos's bank account this week!0

Nicely reported in the media:
Sky news
The Mirror
I'd like to hear what compensation people get from this?
I have a double charging issue (well, 13times), although a different retailer (well, Capital One) and the sum is closer to £4k, making me massively overdrawn. Anyway, it's discussed in a different thread but I do like to have a moan about it as it's still not solved a month later.0 -
Thanks for this. It's typical that I decided to be organised & blitz the Xmas shopping last friday. I spent £100 in Argos. Just checked & it has been taken out twice!!
What I don't get is if Argos realised the mistake on Monday morning as reported on the Sky news link above why did the second transaction not get taken out of my bank until Tuesday!!
They managed to take it out quick enough but somehow can't manage to refund it quite as quick - hmmm!!
Anyway thanks again OP for flagging this up0 -
