Outlook receiving but not sending!

Help, please!
I have 2 pcs with one using Outlook 2007 for email. I have just set up the second pc to use Outlook instead of the first, but it will only receive mail, not send it. I have 2 separate email accounts set up and neither will send, so it can't be the isp/settings. Outlook says it is unable to connect to the outgoing SMTP server for both accounts.
Any advice, please?
Thanks, ed.

make sure your smtp settings are correct is all i can sayThe orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.0

Your SMTP server settings need to be the same as the ISP you are connecting through. If you go to the help page of your ISP, it'll have a guide for configuring your email client.0

Thanks, but the settings are correct and were working before I changed pcs - remember I have 2 accounts on different isps, so there must be a common problem...I love a nice juicy "kebab"...0

you could still have the settings wrong.
what email accounts are you using and what settings are you using, (and yes, blank out email address and password and the like)
when you say you cant send, outlook would give you a error message back, what is this saying?

I'm not at home so can't get the settings at the moment, but I copied the outlook.pst folder from the old to the new pc before using Outlook, so the correct (and previously working) settings are still there. Everything else works as it should.
As I quoted in the original post, it says it is "unable to connect to the outgoing SMTP server"...I love a nice juicy "kebab"...0 -

Yes I know.
For example, you have an account with orange and an account with tiscali. You use the settings each ISP has on their website for the smtp servers.
When you're connecting to the internet using Orange, you'd be able to send from your orange account but not the Tiscali one. You'd need to change the smtp server settings on the tiscali account to the same as the orange one.
When you're connecting to the internet using Tiscali, you'd be able to send from your tiscali account but not the Orange. You'd need to change the smtp server settings on the orange account to the tiscali ones.
When you're connected to the internet through an ISP other than Orange or Tiscali, you'd not be able to send through either and would need to set the smtp server settings on both accounts to that of the ISP you're using or install your own SMTP server service on your computer and set both to 127.0.0.10 -
their are using outlook 2007,
you can setup how many accounts you want, as long as the account has the correct settings, it will use them to send that email from that account.
what needs to be done, is the settings are right, a lot of smtp need to log on now, and some need to change the port numbers and the like.
my isp, i need to log onto the smtp server, and change the port to 26 for it to work from my computer.
we need to check the settings first and what the error message was, as this will show what is happening and why it is not working

would help if you told us
Who are the ISPs .. Bb or dial up
What SMTP settings you are using
Are email addresses ( in / out) based on the isp ( ie @orange etc) or something else likeAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0
